Yoga For The Win

Chronically Growing _ Yoga For The Win

Yoga has been a big part of my mental health journey. As I have struggled with my mental health for the longest time. Yoga has really been my saving grace a lot of the time.

I started doing yoga when I was younger for weight loss. It started as a weight loss journey and turned into a big love for moving my body.

What I love about yoga is the slow flow

The fact that you need to keep your breathing in mind constantly and that little distraction helps to clear your mind of your worries. Yoga has a way of making you feel connected to something bigger than yourself.

My favourite part of yoga for me is doing my own flow. Before starting my sessions, I usually put eucalyptus essential oil on my wrists helps me calm down and ground myself before my session. I have had my best sessions when I was alone with some candles and meditation music or outside under the stars just following my bodies flow.

My yoga sessions might not always be the smoothest, but they work for me and my body

I always know that when my anxiety kicks in and my heart feels like its going to jump out of my chest or my body is just craving the movement. I know exactly what I need to do. (Not that I always do it, because let’s be honest, sometimes you can’t just pop out your yoga matt and boom do it in the middle of Checkers. I don’t think that would be ideal).

My sessions are still very pose limited as I’m not a pro. But I have been learning more poses slowly but surely. How I learn new poses I watch YouTube videos. I exclusively watch yoga with Adrian; I love her channel and would highly recommend her. (And no, it’s not just because of her dog Benji). As for in person classes I have only attended two and its great to wide your horizon of poses.
