A Theater Kid At Heart

Chronically Growing _ A Theater Kid At Heart

Growing up I have always loved musicals, dancing and drama. I’ve always loved the idea of the preforming arts, and I’ve wanted to be a part of it. I love the dressing up and the performance as a kid my parents always let me participate in the school showcase. where every class would dance and I loved it so much.

But I always had this insecurity in me that everyone thinks I’m not good enough.

I think it’s just because I believed I’m not good enough. And being shy never really helped. Now as an adult I realized that, that part of me never left but how do you even get into theatre or acting as an adult who’s never done anything drastic. The only experience I have is like two months of drama as a teenager and that’s it.

I like the idea of doing something different something that you don’t see every day but here I am at 23 still not perusing anything like that because of fear of what others might say. That’s why I decided in my pole class to just take a chance and participate in the show case. Yes, I might not be the best and I’m definitely not the most experienced but I’m going to do something that I deeply love preforming (it’s something that not a lot of people might expect) and not for Suzie’s approval but for myself.

That has really re spiked the confidence to try all these things I have always loved.

Yeah, it will feel cringy and I might feel overwhelmed at times, but I always need to remember that the Child in me that always wanted to do it is looking up at me now for having the courage to do the things we have always wanted to do and love so dearly.

I have been reminding myself more frequently that that’s why I do things for the girl who aspired to be so much, when she grows up.
