Growing up with a liver transplant I never really felt different than everyone else. I just always thought that my parents were strict with me not being aloud to sleep over at other people’s houses except for family because of my health and their potential sh*tty hygiene.
But honestly, I loved it. Because I’ve never really been social. I have always struggled to spend a lot of time with people as it would overstimulate me and cause me to want to lowkey freak out. But my severe social anxiety and how I worked on that is a post for another day
When I really started feeling the difference with my liver transplant was not when I became a teenager
It was once I got friends that liked to go out and go to parties, that’s where it all changed.
But there is something is something really lonely in all the people in your life being able to socialize in that sense, but you can’t because of your health.
This has really made me feel the disconnect between myself and everyone around me, my friends and my family as drinking is usually associated with being social and just most events in general. I just felt left out and like I wasn’t a part of the group.
I had the type of friends that you barely saw out of school unless it was at a party or some big social thing where you could drink. Now don’t get me wrong if never really been pressure or easily influenced by my friends to drink. Not just with my high school friends or even now.
In conclusion
Looking back now as a teen it sucks and sometimes it still gets me a bit. Just the thought of the silly things I could be doing with the people close to me while feeling the buss of being a bit tipsy. I’ve learned to be okay that and that is not a part of my reality In every moment though except for those few weak moments. I honestly thank god that I can’t drink because of the amount of socializing and social admin it would require I don’t think I have the capacities for that my Social files are edging full as it stands already
