Mothers Day

Chronically Growing _ Happy Mothers Day 2026

Why Whimsical Wednesdays

Wednesdays I will be sharing things that just break the auto Pilot cycle of work, eat and sleep for me. I will be sharing some of my hobbies, my opinion on things that I love. Whimsical Wednesday will be all over the place as it will include a bunch of different things that I enjoy.

Mothers Day appreciation/ Little recipe.

I have always loved baking. It has been something that has been a big part of my life since 4th grade. And a big part of why I’ve got into baking is because of 2 strong women in my life. Let me paint a picture for you of a specific memory.

“Clouds moving in the sky harps playing in the background taking us to the memory”

It’s a random chilly Tuesday around mid-day. My grans house was always cozy, In wintertime the house always had a darker shade to it. Which gave the kitchen that extra rainy-day feeling, which I loved so much. The kitchen wasn’t small, but it had a big dinning room table in the middle that made it feel like a big kitchen island. My gran would always start her baking with making a huge batch. I still remember my sister and I had this small toy oven at her house. Its one of those nostalgic things when I think about it. She would give us some of the dough and then we would pretend like we were baking as well. But on this specific day she was making her famous coffee cookies.

When you came into the kitchen. It seemed like 1000s of cookies on the counter, on the table and in the oven. And there were just more cookies coming. My gran had one of those old cookie shapers.

The one where you would feed the dough through the one side and it came out on the other side with a shape on it. The cookies had these sharp little bumps. The aroma of coffee and sweetness was filling the air, and it was pure heaven.

I tried googling what the cookie shaper was, but I can’t find it. Which is quite unfortunate.

I really think that all the random days my gran just slapped out her baking stuff and made the delicate and divine treats. These memories are the reason I have such a deep love for baking, and it takes me back to a simpler and cozier time. And honestly writing this post. Is giving me such a deep appreciation for these things that seem so silly.

So, in memory of my gran and these beautiful memories. And as a gift to my mom for Mothers Day, I baked her a chocolate cake because she’s been hinting for days it’s what she wants and by hinting, I mean she’s been telling me politely.

I’m going to be dead *ss honest with your right now I did not have time to bake cookies and cake from scratch. So, I baked the cookies from scratch and use box’s cake mix.

The chocolate cake:

Ingredients:

  • Ina Paarman’s chocolate cake mix.
  • Nestle caramel treat.
  • Butter (Block)
  • Sprinkles and glitter (for decorating).

Make your cake mix’s as in structed on the box.

Beat/whip 250g of butter preferably stork block. Once butter is soft and evenly mix gradually add 500g of icing sugar into the butter. Mix’s slowly until all the powder is in the butter add colorants and flavours.

Once your cake is done baking and cold down. Make a little dam on the top of your first layer of cake. Then fill the dam with caramel. Place the other layer of cake on top and decorate your cake however you want.

Pop it in the fridge for the icing to set and boom your cake is ready.

Then let’s get to the star of the show… The Coffee cookies. I’m going to be honest the first attempt wasn’t great I was a bit sick over the weekend. So I will definitely be sharing some results on a different day on my socials.

Ending this post, I just want to say Happy belated Mothers Day to all the mothers and mother figures in the world.
