In my recent attempt at skedaddling around. I did my first jog alone and ooh wow it was scary. I mean one it’s the first time that I was that far and long outside alone although it was not far or long ( Walking and so I’ve been further in my car) and its dangerous to be jogging alone in this country woman or man ( In my opinion for both at least I’m so distressed when my fiancé is alone).
I’m just skeptical
Obviously though I am a woman so I will be chatting from a woman’s perspective. But on the not so negative side it was actually quite nice except for the being scared part and even with being scared there were benefits my adrenaline spiked. I did make sure that I was extra prepped in every sense.
So here are some tips that I can give you that worked for me at least:
- Keep your area in consideration.
(I would love to say just go jog but unfortunately sometimes where you live is a bit scary). - I enjoyed running with my headphones on as it made me feel more in my own world and it comforted me with the discomfort of running alone.
(If you aren’t comfortable about earphones or out feel unsafe don’t take them). - When running with headphones earphones keep one half of off your ear or out of your ear.
To make sure you still hear cares and what is going on around you. - Keep something with you for Self-defence.
(A solid water bottle will do). - Remember why you are doing it.
(While jogging alone you can get a lot more in your head because of other people around you and it’s important to remember why you started). - Fanny packs for the win. Highly recommend.
(They are easy to carry, they can fit a lot and they look fantastic). - Make sure you are in clothes that are comfy. Comfort doesn’t necessarily mean ugly.
(Comfort is essential you don’t want to struggle with your clothes while jogging).
I would love to encourage everyone to try jogging alone or with a friend but in both cases just make sure you are safe, Comfortable and why you started.
